Ask Jacky… Should We Back Niece’s Desire For Music Business Break?by Jacky Jasper
My name is Marcella and I have been reading your blog for some months now. I came across your blog when I was doing some research on the music industry.
I launched my research for my sister because my niece wants to break in to this industry, and my sister was not ok with this — so I told my sister that I will do some research. Now what I have found has shocked me, scared me, and puzzled me.
Jacky, there seems to be a very dark side to this business I have looked at different music producers, and their artists that they have produced, and Jacky, I don’t like what I have seen.
I guess my question to you is — should we allow my niece to go into this business, or should we just tell her to find another career or part of this industry to go into?
Jacky, she is very young and I don’t want this business to ruin her innocence. Could you please share some advice with me and my family as to what we should do?
P.S. I really hope you write me back…thank you in advance.
Jacky’s Answer Here:
The music business is a hustle, and introducing your niece to the music business would be not much different than taking her to a hoe stroll.
When your niece is of age, let her make that decision herself. That way, she’d have no one to blame, but herself, if she chooses to enter it. You don’t want your niece blaming you, after she sees it for what it is — like Britney Spears blames her parents, to this day.
I hope I answered your question…
