Case Got The Fame … NOT The Fortune!by Jacky Jasper
HSK Exclusive - Case once took to wax saying “the job is flow” … but that doesn’t mean his job was a paid in full gig. Don’t believe me.. Just ask Foxy ‘Ill Na Na’ Brown, whose childhood girlfriend was at the table when Case couldn’t pick up the entire $125.00 check!!!
“Case was so broke during his Def/Jam days that he was living with his grandmother.”
We’re told the Case of the $125 check went down at Midtown Manhattan’s ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ restaurant , back in ’96. That’s when “Touch Me, Tease Me” not only made the soundtrack for “The Nutty Professor” … the song also ranked #4 on the R&B charts and landed Gold. Insiders say, ‘Blame it on Def Jam.’
“Def/Jam kept Case broke. They never cut his checks on time. He was always left playing catch-up with his bills’cause he had to keep his image up.”
Here’s the drop:
“He was flossin’ with them damn rocks in his ears, but he took me and my girls to a damn burger joint that I woulda taken my nieces and nephews to. We had a table of five … and when the check came he fronted. He turned to me and whispered ‘you know I ain’t covering all of this, right’. I was like nigga you invited my girls. One of my girls caught was was going down and threw a fifty on the table and walked outside for a cigarette. I was so embarrassed, I sat there with him … mad as hell! When the waitress came back with the change, he didn’t tip her a dime … and he damn sure didn’t give my girl back her change. I did tip the waitress though on GP. I never accepted a call from his broke ass again.”
Was Case’s real 4-1-1 … that Mary J Blige grew tired of covering dude between his late checks? Of course! Don’t believe me.. Ask LaTonya.
