“The Cove” — Japan’s Cover-Up of Dolphin Killing Spree Exposed
Monday, October 18th, 2010
This past Thursday, I returned to L.A. from Palm Springs, and I had a few hours free. That’s when I downloaded the documentary “The Cove” — the movie was a learning experience, because I knew nothing about the slaughtering of dolphins in Japan. Boy…was I disgusted. If you saw the film, you would be too.
The popular 60′s television program “Flipper” is said to be what sparked the high demand for placing dolphins in captivity, and inspiring companies like Sea World. Now, the man responsible for bringing us Flipper, world-renowned dolphin trainer Ric O’Barry, has dedicated the rest of his life to saving dolphins. Know why? Because Ric discovered that buying a different Lamborghini every week was not worth the price of his soul. Ric came to this epiphany when he says Flipper, whose real name was Kathy committed suicide in his arms to escape living in captivity. Ric says because he personally caught Kathy (bringing America “Flipper”), he now feels responsible for all dolphins in captivity. Ric is now an activist who will do anything to stop the cruelty and slaughtering of one of man’s best friends — the dolphin. Because of that, Ric is hated by companies like Sea World, the Japanese government, and Japan’s fishermen. Don’t stop reading now…
