Last night, the band and I hit the stage at Sunset Strip’s Roxy Theater “The Roxy“. Though we didn’t advertise, we performed a surprise set during the Kool Keith concert — it was nothing short of being a complete success. The night began with three bodyguards from The Bodyguard Group picking us up (one of whom is a former Secret Service, and has protected President Barack Obama). I FELT EXTREMELY SAFE, wouldn’t you???
Much thanks to Kris Herzog and his boys! The boys and I were safely escorted to the venue as we rolled in a motorcade up the Sunset Strip. We arrived at about 10:30, and immediately headed to the dressing room where security stayed outside to ensure our privacy. That’s where I did a meet and greet with folks — some of whom I hadn’t seen in a very long time, and some new people who I had just met. Some were pissed after being patted down before entering the dressing room, but such is life — I don’t care, my band and my safety comes first!
A short time later, Keith called me telling me he had arrived so I told him I’d come down to greet him. I haven’t performed with my homey in years, so the bodyguards and I headed downstairs to meet him. We gave each other daps and shared some laughs as we strolled back up to the dressing room.
About 30-minutes later, Keith hit the stage. I was still upstairs chilling before I was like ‘Oh shit’ to the boys in my band, and said let’s go peep my homey’s show. We all went to the backstage area and waited to be introduced so we could do what we came to do, and guess what? We killed it! Image this — a B-boy audience being introduced to LIVE Metal Rap.
