Does Willow Smith Sound Better Than Rihanna?

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Just yesterday, I took a listen to Willow Smith debut song “Whip My Hair”. For those of you who may not know, Willow is Jada and Will Smith’s nine-year-old old daughter. The track was filled with countless studio effects, which makes Willow sound much older than she is (thanks auto-tune).

Now, I just got news that Jay Z (who’s a good friend to of Jada and Will) signed Willow to his Roc Nation Label. Jay is also reportedly looking to sign Young Jezzy to Roc Nation as well, but I must admit I think Willow sounds better that a lot of singers who are competing in today’s computerized market. Now, I’m wondering if Willow sounds better than Rihanna…

The Big Short! Are You Outraged?

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

Via Music Industry Guru Bob Lefsetz:

Can I recommend an unreadable book?

Let’s say I gave you the keys to a recording studio, and despite having no previous knowledge I told you to emerge in two weeks with a hit record, would you be able to do it?

Even better, would you be willing to take the risk?

No one wants to do the work. No one wants to expend the energy to be able to comprehend and play in their chosen field, they’d rather just tear down the winners.

Then again, in our sports-centric society, it’s mantra that you can’t succeed unless you play by the rules, the ones established by the big kahunas, who dominate the game you want to play. If you question them, they say WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?

Prince Is A Doofus!!!

Monday, July 12th, 2010

We told you last week that of Prince’s plot to not have his music released via the internet, by striking a deal with a British newspaper, giving away his new album “2010″.

Earlier this week, we told you about Prince’s counterattack on the internet by using the UK press to release his 27th album. Now, Kenny G is speaking out against the purple bandit.

“If the internet is dead then I must be dead, too, cause I use it all the time,” Kenny G fired back. “Maybe I got a sixth sense, and I only see dead people. I don’t know. The majority of my audience may not be as internet and download savvy like fans of singer Rihanna, but I know I must use the outlet to promote my music.”

And while BET Lifetime Achievement Award winner Prince refuses to use digital platforms to distribute his music Kenny G says: Continue Reading…

Prince Hates The Internet

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

With Prince’s widely anticipated 27th album being set to release this coming weekend, the purple bandit recently weighed in with his thoughts on the internet and music and from what the veteran rock star musician has to say, it’s clear to see that he’s not to happy with how new media has affected the music industry.

“The internet is completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else,” Prince reasoned. “They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.” That may be why Prince has decided to release “20Ten” through a giveaway he’s coordinated with UK’s publication of The Daily Mirror. “The internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated,” Prince explained. “All these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.” Keep Reading…
