The Travel Channel’s Adam Richman is a HUGE hip-hop fan but despite his love for All You Can Eat, you won’t find The Fat Boys on his top 5 Old School jams!

Uncle Louie sat down with Adam and asked the Man vs. Food star what his favorite old school songs were and what songs he was listening to on his iPod today:

Old Skool

* Children’s Story – Slick Rick
* Don’t Sweat the Technique – Eric B & Rakim
* T.R.O.Y, Pete Rock & CL Smooth
* Black steel in the hour of chaos – Public Enemy
* Scenario – Tribe Called Quest
* LONS – Leaders of The New School

Calling Sean Kingston…. Eenie Meenie Miney Moe!!

I’m listening to Sean Kingston’s (@SeanKingston) new song with Justin Bieber (@JustinBieber), it’s called “Eenie Meenie”. If you came up in the Old School game like me, you are thinking “Eenie Meenie, like as in JJ Fad’s (@JJFAD) song called ‘Eenie Meenie Beats’ which was on the same album as JJ Fad’s (http://www.jjfad.com) smash hit Supersonic?” That’s the one!

Well, as I’m listening to it, I can tell you, the title is just like JJ Fad’s song title, but that’s where the similarity ends. It’s not a bad song, it’s not as great song, it’s what I call a safe song. It’s actually a play on the old saying ”Eenie Meenie Miney Moe”. Continue Reading…

It’s not the weekend yet, but what the hell, I got something on my mind. What? Glad you asked…I’m about to tell you. Ever wonder why Rock-n-Roll acts of the past are revered, honored and supported, but old school hip hop legends are not?

Maybe you never noticed, but it’s true. People still support the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hendrix, etc. Yet the folks who we grew up on like Kurtis Blow, Run DMC, The Fat Boys and all those old school rap legends don’t support anything! They’re too tied up listening to “fill in the blank hip hop”. Well, anybody can fill in the blank pal, that’s for the birds!

What’s worse is, when I bump into people who are in the music business; guys selling millions of records and rolling in money, they say “oh shit, ‘fill in the blank’ was my jam back in the day! It’s cause of them cats that I got into music!” So, you’d think these modern day music moguls would look out for the dudes who laid the foundation that led to their empires right? Continue Reading…
