CLIVE DAVIS CONS BLACK PEOPLE
Alicia Keys, your favorite not mine.
Know why?
Alicia is not hip or funky in anyway. She’s boring. Alicia is cute but this is not a beauty pageant, is it? Didn’t she have to get a nose job too?
Clive Davis discovered Alicia (you must read the book “Hit Man” to really know Clive Davis). I did and guess what? Dude’s a crook. Clive has been granted by some the title “genius” for discovering black talent. In other words Clive has a ear for music.
Fuck Clive, he was lucky for signing Sly Stone ask Sly? He’ll tell you. White people give Clive credit for Janis Joplin, I didn’t black singers were already doing that. Janis did nothing new. Janis is like Eminem, they came on board I never knew they gave out medals for that did you?
Then there’s Earth Wind & Fire. They were good, don’t get it fucked up; but I loved the Bar-Kays and the Ohio Players much more.
Know why?
They had more funk, they were street. Who do you think Larry Blackmon from Cameo got his style from? Even Lionel Richie was biting the Ohio Players, just ask Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers? He’ll tell you. That’s why Anthony and his band did a remake of Fire by the Ohio Players.
Clive Davis always watered down black music so white people could understand it. So white people would buy it and later learn to imitate it, ask Michael Bolton? Some people will speak out loud about Jazz music and compare Kenny G. to the late great John Coltrane. What are those people smoking? Gimmie some!!!
Then Clive gave us Whitney Houston. I was never a fan. Whitney’s fucking boring, her crack habit was more entertaining than her singing. Whitney came out during the era of bands like Slave, Al Hudson, One Way & Cameo .Who do you think black people were listening too? The real black people were not listening to Whitney Houston, they were into funk. Whitney was a part of the 80′s Italian era which included Celebration a huge hit single back then for Kool and the Gang. That’s when Kool got a new singer named J.T. Taylor. No more Funky stuff or songs like Jungle Boogie. Kool and his Gang sold out. They were following Lionel Richie, ask Walter Orange from the Commodores?
Whitney was the black version of Cher and Celine Dion a fucking Vegas act. Now that’s not black is it? What do you think Alicia Keys is? She’s just like Whitney, neither can dance. Whitney and Alicia both have two left feet and they’re both bi-sexual, aren’t they? Both were discovered by Clive Davis, and they both use black people so their white audience can think they both have soul.
Guess what?
They don’t. When was the last time you got fly, sniffed some blow, okay fuck it that’s too much for you guys! Lets ask, when was the last time you smoked a joint, drank some Henny and hit the dance floor to a Alicia Keys song? When? The answer is never.
Know why?
Cuz Alicia Keys is boring. Alicia’s music is for depressed people which is most people in America right now. Isn’ it?
If I was that depressed I rather listen to Coltrane or Gil Scott at least its real.

You’re absolute,Bar-Kays, Ohio Players, real funk. The music industry didn’t like or want Rap music, especially hardcore Gangsta Rap, because that shit is like crack to white people young and old. After hearing hardcore street Rap, alot of white people are hooked, even crackas be playin Rap music,Hip Hop in their cars, club, homes, businesses, because mostly all the bitch love it, in one form or another.
The only thing crusty crackas like clive don’t like, is that, Blacks invented the Rap music, and the Hip Hop Culture, and he hates the Black people in it.He preys on our weakest links, willing to drink his juice.
Likes others white people need to water it down, so
they can poorly imitate Black music, like latinos, asian
etc. do.

Thank You for confirming what I’ve been saying all along! Although I liked Whitney’s voice (pre-crack)she was boring. Her videos, boring….Eminem (sigh)…ppl are beating me down with the stick trying to convince me that he is a dope MC. I think he sucks. I’m from the old school: Eric B and Rakim, LL Cool J, Run DMC, KRS-One, Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Wu-Tang, Kool Moe Dee, etc…when rap was new, innovative, fresh, made you think. He irks me……profoundly

Jacky, I know that I’m late, but you are so on point!!!
I’m serious old school too. You are so right about the Ohio Players. I’ve been into them since the Westbound years. Them, War, Isleys, etc. EWF was okay. I only like their ballads. They never seemed to have the same funk as the others.

I worked with the Ohio Players & those cats are dope…& I agree with -u- their funk was different & most of us loved it…Rick James told me when we were in a studio session… that he took a lot of their style…

This was an interesting article. Bottom line we all have choices. So, who are we really blaming here. This is business folks. This is exactly why we at Rite 1 Entertainment consult our artist with the knowledge of what this job of becoming a Superstar consist of. Yes, it is a job folks! Most artist only get stuck on one thing the fame and the fortune. No one tells them about everything else that comes with it. Again, do your homework people! There are many other options these days, if you would like to put in the work.
