Clive Davis Scores Big Buck$ on Biography Book DealSeptember 13th, 2012
Music Mogul Set To Mask The Whole Truth?
He’s infamously know across the music industry for making hundreds of millions of dollars byf ripping off his musicians, but that’s something Clive Davis will more than likely mask as the music mogul documents the story of his life. Don’t believe me.. Ask Barry Manilow, who once said of Davis, “I don’t know if the other artists at Arista appreciate him, but I do.” This after the summer of 1973 when Davis was abruptly fired from his presidency of the CBS Records Group after CBS executives accused Davis of using $94,000 of the company’s money for personal expenditures.
Now, Davis seems to be heading back to cash in on what he green-lights to make the pages of this latest biography – set for release February 2013.
Here’s what an insider had to say about Davis’ book deal:
“On Wednesday, the book was acquired after ‘a very spirited auction’. Financial terms were not disclosed for Davis’ book deal, but an official with knowledge of the negotiations said the deal was worth seven figures. The official was not authorized to discuss the deal and asked not to be identified.”
This isn’t the first memoir for the 80-year-old Arista Records founder – whose net worth is listed at a whopping $800M. You may remember Davis released his first book back in 1975, “Clive: Inside the Record Business”.
