Gospel Groups Party Harder Than SUMMER-JAM

Gospel acts have been getting under my skin from since childhood. I always knew most of them were liars and hypocrites. You may ask why do I say this? It’s because when I was a kid I saw the movie The Mack.

My uncle was watching the movie and guess what? I loved it. So when Sunday came around and my family and I headed to service, I notice in church some of the men were dressed like Goldie ( He’s the character Max Julien played in the movie ).I was only 9 yrs old and I knew it was all a hustle.

Why couldn’t the grown adults see it? As a teen I discovered most of the church goers were just buying salvation. If the preacher in the church was selling heaven they were buying.

Also as a teen I became a record collector and I noticed most of the artists will live to the fullest in debauchery and then some will turn to gospel when their mainstream careers were over.

If it’s a female act like Mary Mary they still had on their make-up and the tightest pair of spandex a shopkeeper could find.
Why does Mary Mary wanna work with T.I.? Is it for record sales? Oh I forgot if Jesus could forgive so could they.

I’m not buying that. It seems like that’s what these gospel acts do; they sin and ask for forgiveness.

Which gospel acts are guilty of such?

Andre Crouch once liked cocaine while he was a preacher, Be Be Winans likes to beat his wife and he’s also rumored to be gay, and then there’s Mel Gibson. He’s a Gospel performer, oh yes he is! Mel Gibson is an actor and he’s also a preacher that owns a church.

Mel is committing adultery; doesn’t Mel Gibson also drink liquor?

Maybe if a chic threw a hot pot of grits on me like one did to Al Green I’d be singing the gospel too.

Hey, I know it may look that way, but everyone in the church isn’t dirty. Some of us actually love the God we preach, sing, and talk about. Please don’t think this is the rule. It’s just the most sensationalized. Church is full of imperfect folks doing what they can. Everybody doesn’t have a good example of what church should be, so they try to wing it, and that never works.

You hit the nail on the head Jackie, don’t forget about James Cleveland. I mentioned to my sister how Mary, Mary dress like video hoes but she is fooled by what their music says and defended them but not me. I think a lot of the gospel artist now are just for show so I get what I need to get from the Bible not these hypocrites in the industry.

Remember Jacky, showing up to a church building doesn’t make you a christian just like showing up to KFC doesn’t make you Colonel Sanders.

2 Timothy 3

To be a Christian you MUST be Born Again. True Christianity is a supernatural relationship with God through Jesus Christ, NOT a way to get your wallet blessed. Its about love and truth, NOT selling self-help books and singing, and above all Christianity is the gift of righteousness and the liberation from the bondage of sin, not a means by which to say “hey look at me Lord, I’m singin in the choir, I’m volunteering at the soup kitchen, I MUST be acceptable to you now, I’ve EARNED IT!” God is good. Good beyond a measure we can understand, and He wants, and only accepts perfection. Knowing we can’t achieve that, we can’t EARN that, He made the perfect sacrifice for us, so all we have to do is repent, believe and receive and HE changes us.

Romans 10:9-10
“9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

There is a vast difference between Christians and “churchians”(e.g. those that still accept Eddie Long as their pastor and preacher of the Gospel). The fact is the evidence supporting that every word of the bible is true is very extensive, but generally untelevised. Why? because when you take God out of the equation, those that desire to control you become the next most powerful entities in your life…and they don’t want to ever let you go free.
