HIPHOP CLASS WITH MICKEY BENSON – THE ORIGINS

I did a hour interview with Mickey Benson who is the spokesman for the Grandfather of hip/hop Afrika Bambaataa’s Zulu’s Nation… This interview will broken down into segments to make it easier for you all to digest.
I was a young kid at the time when this thing called Hip/Hop was invented… I am not from New York so Mickey is breaking it down for me and all I can do is pay attention, so should you… To remind you I played in a band as a teen-ager but when I heard Ice-T’s ” Rhyme Pays” and Eric-B and Rakim ” Follow The Leader” I was done with my band. I became a MC. I remember Kurtis Blow, Grand Master Flash And The Furious Five, Run Dmc, The Sugar Hill Gang and the Soul Sonic Force but Mickey Benson was there. Guess what? I wasn’t…
Eric B told me DJ’s from Queens had Cervin Vega speakers and Kool Herc had guitar speakers… In other words Eric told me that Kool Herc was not the first one with the loud amplified sound…Once again I wasn’t there all I can do is take notes but this is a classic series and I hope you all to enjoy it…
Today’s episode is called ” The Origins Of Hip/Hop”.
