EXCLUSIVE – There’s a new book set to hit shelves which may shatter hip hop’s long kept secret of what it really takes to make it to top hip hop success. Industry insider and author of Hiding in Hip Hop, Terrance Dean brings us his second book “Mogul” – a very detailed layout recounting one artist’s (Big A.T.) journey as he struggles to land his dream of making it big in the music business.
HSK first became hip to the juicy read after one of our readers tipped us off to it. I managed to get an advance copy from my P.R. rep and after delving into its pages, we discovered, because Mogul’s characters have fictional names, the reader is left to decide which character parallels the industry’s real life players.
In this excerpt from the novel below, we have determined with precision the character of “Pop” is really Andre Harrell. Don’t believe me? just ask Puffy!

I wanted to hear my music on the radio. And the man sitting with is face sniffing at my crotch is willing to make it happen. For the first time I heard my own voice. The words found their way out of my belly, into my throat, and out of my lips. “I don’t know. I mean…I…I…I”
“Relax,” Pop stroked my erection. “We will work everything out. This is between you and me? This is our world, baby.” Pop smiled. He licked his lips and then spoke to my dick. “What happens here stays here.”
Here’s yet another shocking excerpt from Mogul, as Big A.T. learns Pop’s true intentions and Pop reacts to the young artist’s shock:
“I couldn’t believe my ears. This top entertainment mogul was actually letting me in on the secret. He was a gay man and the industry is full of them.”
“Let me tell you something we are all up in the business. Shit, without us half these ignorant celebrity motherfuckers wouldn’t be who they are today. How do you think most of them got to where they are? I hope you don’t think that it is really all about talent.”

Reading that excerpt is so saddening. Knowing black men like this exist makes it so hard to trust, to open your heart to the posibility of true and lasting love. Most days when I see stuff like this, I just want to shut the world out. Daily it becomes more and more of a sadder place. The worst part is how not all of these men are gay, but rather are being coerced through promises of fortune and fame. A chance at the American dream. To think black men and women in power would use the opportunity for a better life (at least to some) as leverage to get these men and women to engage in such depraved acts. When we begin to prey on our own, what have we become?

Some people are wicked and evil. They have been hurt so they want to hurt others. It means nothing to them to manipulate people and destroy them. That’s the nature of the “beast.” This is why young people really need to know what they are getting into before they seek fame and fortune. I hope this book is a best seller. Im apart of the “Family”. I am divorced from my wife, have children but never cheated. She left me because I work to much. Its not not that big a deal, no body makes any body do any thing. I have been offered several catapults in my career to go queer and I havent, and I have still risen albeit much slower. So if someone wants to move up quick and are willing to do whatever then thats there prerogative. And I am so sad that you are shutting out the world or considering it because of fear. It dont matter if your mans cheating with a man or a woman if he’s cheating, he’s cheating and if he’s honest he’s honest. And just like some people lie and cheat and steal, some dont, some guys do NONE of these negative things. Thats like me saying im not going out my house cause people get shot, more like SO STUPID than SO SAD. Maybe you have PTSD. Also the execs doing this arent coerced or leveraging, its a simple request. Its like you want a hot dog and they say it has pork, u say i dont eat pork im muslim, they say ok. you say i want a hott dogg bad. they say well you are welcome to eat this pork hot dog, i will never tell anyone. The people can say no but the truth of the matter is most of them arent that talented in the first place so they aint getting no where without putting some pork hot dog in there mouth. There are good honest guys out there. ANd just because somebody is moved to help somebody they want to have sex with doesn’t make them a wicked bad person. Now that i have risen to my position without ever selling I sometimes get sex from potential superstars. They are hott!! I cant help it. But they sell there self. If i offer you a deal and come onto you sexually its not leveraging or coercing its mixing business with pleasure and thats what we do in Hollywood. Its the nature of our beast. And some may say someone with that much power shouldn’t do such a thing. But Im a humble brother and look at myself objectively and I say just say NO!! I did.
Moral of the story: Everyone has a different moral code. Stop Judging, Live in the Moment, Enjoy Life. Its short. Think positive, truly believe, have faith and align yourself accordingly and you will attract the man of your dreams.

He then separated from Andre Harrell (or so it seemed) and started Bad Boy. At some point, they began working together again. Do you think that was just a move to throw people off? The way you guys say it, it’s like gay people are predominantly evil and linked to the devil. What about straight men that do same to women, or little girls? Are they any better? Or even women that do such to either men or women? They’re all just as bad. And these shameless people do not constitute the entire gay population. There are honest, noble and kind gay men and women out there. These people are sick, but as someone has said, the “straight” people they’re with weren’t forced.
