Jay Z Bumps NASCAR Driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. To Roc Nation Sports

June 13th, 2013

jay-z-dale-earnhardt-jr-roc-nation

“Before today, I never spoke to a black person, so this is pretty exciting. This is something I can scratch off my bucket list.” ~Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

According to Dale Earnhardt, Jr., when it comes to sports, “Jay Z is where it’s at”. The famed NASCAR driver said just that after recently singing to Roc Nation Sports Agency.

Here’s what Dale Earnhardt, Jr. told the Sports Pickle website:

“I feel like my brand is well-known among NASCAR fans, but I want it to grow beyond stock car racing. And Jay-Z is where it’s at right now.

I am excited to work with him and the good folks at Roc Nation.”

Here’s what Jay Z had to say to those who have dubbed his relationship with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. “an odd match”:

“Why? Why would you say that? I think I know why you’re saying that. I aim to make Roc Nation the premier sports agency. This is legitimate.
You can’t pigeonhole me to just black athletes in the three major sports. You might want to, but you can’t. My partnership would be far more successful than the recent hip hop and country collaboration between LL Cool J and Brad Paisley.”

The definition of a coon is an individual who portrays negative stereotypes for financial gain. Can you please explain how this is cooning?

    silly Reply:

The nigga and his wife are both coons. Consider that explained.

As a serious race fan of MANY years all I can say is “Dale you know NOT what you’re doing, man.”

    Let me get this straight…
Dale Earnhardt Jr who comes from generational wealth & openly claims to have “NEVER spoken to a black person until he met & spoke to Jay Z is entrusting “his brand which not much more than his FAMILY’S NAME to Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports?” Why? For what reason?

And…quite honestly I really liked Dale up until I read his comment so honestly…I hope it all works out for him but he is now one NASCAR driver I’ll no longer cheer for. His father was crazy as hell but he always knew what to say & when to say it.

I can’t wait to say how this works out for all parties involved! :-)

    *Bet neither Kyle Busch nor
Danica Patrick will be traipsing their brands/race teams over there!

    And…
PLEASE Jay Z,leave the NHRA out your
“Roc Nation Sports” clusterfuck in the making. I’d end up catching a case…
    Seriously! :-)

This is one case where I hope Jay-Z robs this redneck blind.
As payback what they did to Lillte Richard and all the great black musicians back in the day when the J00ish execs did it to them.

Ms Reg This is where I always get myself in trouble when I appear to want to give the YT man the benefit of the doubt, so I should keep it shut and eliminate that possibility. But dammit, something just doesn’t smell right here. I know for a FACT that Junior kicks it with the sistas, and 3/4 of the music on his ipod is hip hop. He hardly, if ever, listens to country music. Finally, common sense would dictate that if he CHOOSES a Black man to entrust with his “BRAND”, does that really like the act of a person who doesn’t deal with Black folks on a regular basis? I’m just saying, I think someone’s pulling our leg here. Don’t be burnin’ your Junior or #8 bobbleheads yet. lol

He said he doesn’t “speak to black people”

He never said he doesn’t get his share of bellywarmers.

You think those white slavemasters had conversations with the niggas?
They went into the slave shack turned the little black girl, boy, woman into doggy style, pulled their dresss or britches down and did their business and left a few scraps of pork rine or some extra cloth to make some clothes on the floor as a gift , zip their pants up and left.

    Amen-Re

I wouldn’t be too certain about that, I believe that Danica Patrick has appeared in one of Jay Z’s music videos previously so a joint venture wouldn’t be too far fetched…

Y’all must be dumb if you think he was stupid enough to say something like that. It was either a joke or a fake quote.

Wow! He’ s never spoken to a black person til now???! Is that possible? I find that so hard to believe. Race relations in USA never cease to amaze me.

    [Reply]

    Kittey Reply:

Well…we are still the minority so I don’t think its that inconceivable. I guess it depends on where he lives. I would still like to know if he meant it in a derogatory way or if he was just being silly. I’m assuming he was just being silly until I read something else that he said that suggests otherwise. Black people need to lighten up sometimes. Its not always that serious.

…What kind of stupid, inbred idiot boasts about never speaking to a black person before, yet signs to a black man’s ‘sports agency’ in its infancy? I guess that’s what happens when some of your relatives are twice-related. And yes, as Daja said above, ‘Race relations in USA never cease to amaze me,’ either.

    [Reply]

    Anon Reply:

@ Raheim – Because he said himself he has never spoken to a black person and yet, is willing to do business with one, Especially Jay Z, a Hip Hop artist. Maybe he is being used by the “Good ole boys” as a special agent of theirs to always have insight on what Jay’s doing and who he is doing it with. They never stray away from their program. Anytime a black person is doing something big, they will send in a plant to spy.

I don’t care for Jay too much, but it’s rather strange to see people signing up with him, knowing many of his business ventures failed and that he isn’t really qualified, but slipped through some loopholes.

If you are going to quote SportsPickle at least know what SportsPickle is all about…..

    What is SportsPickle?
SportsPickle.com is a sports humor, satire and parody site.

SportsPickle has been referenced in more than 100 media outlets and is repeatedly called one of the funniest websites on the web. A SportsPickle book, “The View From The Upper Deck,” was published by St. Martin’s Press in 2007.

DJ Gallo is SportsPickle’s founder and editor. He launched the site out of college in 2001 after writing a satirical sports column for his university paper. He is a frequent guest on national TV and radio shows and is a columnist for ESPN.com’s Page 2.

SportsPickle became part of Connected Ventures, LLC in March 2009 and was re-launched in July 2009. At re-launch, the site went daily and began introducing a wider platform of content – a process that will continue indefinitely, including the incorporation of original video.

    SportsPickle is awesome.

How old is this dude? He’s never talked to a black person before. This had to be by choice. Should have been a red flag for Jay Z. But, money talks and bull-sh@t walks

Well, i don’t like jay z but I do like this move…we should have had black sports agencies long ago, black people & our communities should profit from black athletes & entertainers…do you see arabs giving away their oil for free…

I’m with Black Pearl and Ms Reg on this. His never having spoke to a black person had to be by choice, and now he’s being “forced” to to make more money. I too had cheered Jr on because of his father, but Never again!

You folks really need to lively up. SportsPickle is a satire website like The Onion. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. did not say that. It’s satire.

THANK YOU R8RBOB for passing on your knowledge. I did not know of Sports Pickle, but I read The Onion frequently so I knew right away what you meant.
No, I am not a shill for Junior, but I know him, and I was certain from the jump that there was some B.S. with this story.
It’s bad enough when YTs really do say or do some jacked up shyt, but for Lord’s sake, let’s not tar and feather a man for a “parody” on a comedic site! Clearly he is very Black friendly to partner up with the Camel. I wonder if he get’s to be Blue Ivy’s godfather in the bargain?

You haven’t been to Daytona then. There are LOTS of Black NASCAR fans. They may not be “authentic” in your eyes, whatever that means, but you’d be surprised at the typical brotha you see at races. They aren’t buppie YT wannabe’s either…they are very much like the Black men who are in motorcycle groups: gearheads.
Dontcha think that trying to judge someone’s authenticity by the books they read or the TV they watch is kinda 1975?

I don’t believe this guy bragged about shooting me up in his music, ( bullet wounds will stop your buffoonery )( i tore you out the frame ) and is doing so good in business now,

but i know how it was after his super business meeting with the big heads that get rid of everyone after that meeting, Dame, Gotti, Suge, Prince , Big and some others.. just stay faithful to us jay and you will be alright…

but his heartless look at Dame and Big and Biggie and Aliayah all the same way, just didn’t brag about it , some died some lived… But this heartless piece of sh-t is all about money, which is nothing wrong with that but don’t hurt no one that has no intentions to hurt you…

He will pay one day, and hopefully and probably some day soon….

No way Dale Earnhardt Jr. said that quote. That has to be made up for shock value. He’s not that stupid or racist and he did an interview with MTV that was done by a black person. Smh at the garbage people will believe because it’s on the internet.
