Jersey Shore: To Be Italian, Or Not To Be Italian – That is the Question…
Despite the fact that Jersey Shore’s Snooki and J-WOWW don’t have a drop of Italian blood running through their veins, one American-Italian group is outraged by the hit MTV program.
National American-Italian Service Organization, UNICO, is tired of the reality program they say is a negative portrayal of young Italian Americans.
Now, UNICO is looking to take legal action against Jersey Shore.
“I cannot say too much right now about the actual legal steps we are going to take but we feel what MTV are doing with Jersey Shore is outrageous,” said UNICO president, Andre Dimino. “The use of words like ‘Guidos’ and ‘Guidettes’ is racial stereotyping in the worst possible sense and they are portraying young Italian Americans in the worst possible light.”
Well, that may be, but the problem may lie in the fact that there are Italian impostors on the show — Snooki is really a Chilean and J-WOWW is half Irish and half Spanish.
“In my opinion these girls are an embarrassment to their own heritages, their families and themselves with the way they behave on Jersey Shore,” said Dimino.
Why did the producers of the show not cast all Italians? Is it because MTV was solely looking for Italian stereotypes? Though Jersey show is my favorite reality show, I gotta side with the real Italians. Know why? Because this situation of Italian impostors can be compared to black face (that’s when white people put black polish on their face, and start mimicking black people). Mike the Situation is a lot like JJ Evan’s from the black stereotype 70′$ sitcom “Good Times”. So, when taking a closer look at Jersey Shore I don’t like it’s stereotyping (but, it’s entertaining). Because it’s basically a mockery of the Italian community. Don’t you agree?

We all knew Snookie wasn’t italian from the begining, she said she was adopted by italians, JWOW on the other hand nver said she wasn’t, Jersey shore was my guilty pleasure i must admit, just like a couple of years back I love NY was..teehee*
