Madonna is giving back to thousands of African kids in the country of Malawi. The south eastern portion of ‘The Mother Land’, is reported to be one of the least developed and most densely populated countries in the world. So, the ‘Material Girl’ is putting her pockets to good use, by helping to materialize a Malawian school for girls. The Raising Malawi Girls Academy has already broken ground – Madonna was even there to plant the first tree – and it’s expected to be finished in two years.

“After seeing all the hard working Malawian women who are looking after families and communities, I realized how much they deserve to be educated,” said Madonna.

The Detroit native was first exposed to Malawi, after she adopted two of her children (David Banda and Mercy James), who were born and orphaned there. Since then, Madonna has made it her mission to do what she can for impoverished country. She’s already orchestrated a Malawian community center that serves as a home to more than 8,000 orphans.

I am really hoping that people like Sean “Puffy” Combs and Mariah Carey (among countless others, who brag about their wealth), are taking notes here. Some may say Madonna is following in the footsteps of Oprah, but even so, it’s a good move. I hope even more of the wealthy will step up to the plate and follow the art of giving to those who are in desperate need.

During the ground-breaking ceremony, Marge also brought her eldest daughter, Lourdes along to witness her digging the first piece of dirt, before construction begins. I say she’s setting an exceptional example of giving to her children. With everything that Madonna has brought to the table, say what you will, but she’s doing more for blacks in Africa than Beyonce. I truly think it’s time for our rich black Americans to start to giving back to the ‘Mother Land’ – it’s the only way blacks will be guaranteed an education leading them to a promising future – Won’t you agree?
