I won’t even tap dance around in an email, I will get right into it. People connect to the Artist @ the end of the day, they don’t connect with the executives. Honestly, nobody even cares what label puts out a great record, they care about who recorded it. Yet time and time again its the executives who always stand in the way of a creative artist’s dream and aspirations. You don’t help draw the truth from my deepest and most inner soul, you don’t even do a great job @ selling it. The #1 problem with DEF JAM is pretty simple and obvious, the executives think they are the stars. You aren’t…. not even close. As a matter of fact, you wish you were, but it didn’t work out so you took a desk job. To the consumer, I COME FIRST. Stop trying to deprive them! I have a fan base that dies for my music and a RAP label that doesn’t understand RAP. Pretty fucked up situation
This isn’t the 90′s though. Beefing with record labels is so 15 years ago. @ this point I just need you all to be very clear where I stand and how I feel about “my label.” I could go on twitter or hot 97 tomorrow and get 100,000 protesters @ your building but I choose to walk my own path my own way because since day one I have been my own man. I did business with Tommy Mottola and Donnie Einer, two of the most psycho dudes this business ever created. I worked well with them for one major reason……. they believed in me. The didn’t give a fuck about what any radio station or magazine said….those dudes had me.
Lost Tapes is a movement and a very important set up piece for my career as it stands. I started this over 5 years ago @ Columbia and nobody knew what it was or what it did but the label put it out as an LP and the fans went crazy for it and I single handlely built a new brand of rap albums. It’s smart and after 5 years it’s still a head of the game. This feels great and you not feeling what I’m feeling is disturbing. Don’t get in the way of my creativity. We are aligned with the stars here, this is a movement. There is a thing called KARMA that comes to haunt you when you tamper with the aligning stars. WE ARE GIVING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT. Stop throwing dog shit on a MAGICAL moment.
You don’t get another Nas recording that doesn’t count against my deal….PERIOD! Keep your bullshit $200,000.00 fund. Open the REAL budget. This is a New York pioneers ALBUM, there ain’t many of us. I am ready to drop in the 4th quarter. You don’t even have shit coming out! Stop being your own worst enemy. Let’s get money!

LOL i respect Nas he still uses rap to voice the peoples issues!he is one of the last revolutionary artist,he is our only link to the era of rap being a representation of the peoples opinion. This is why the majors will be gone soon,they are greedy and think the consumer is stupid.Why put out an artist that might make you think when they want the consumer to luv their mass produced artists saying nothing.Def Jam was once a power house but honestly they have been under bad management.These labels try to own your shit that they didnt even play a hand in creating.HOw you not gonna pay me for putting out an album but want to take the profits!!?? They saying : we dont want to invest marketing dollars into it but if it blows we will be glad to collect that check and also you still will owe us an album.i luv how Jay z became the PRES at def jam had all the artist drop albums, and spent no money on promotions–so he could kill the budget on his album.Nas needs to act like lebron and take his talents elsewhere.

Nas must be on that stuff if he thinks he’s not a slave, or maybe has he forgotten his brush with obscurity? That puppet better just enjoy his blood money and stop yankin on the strings before they hang him by them. The only reason he’s heard is because he sells death. This “Lost tapes” series seems to feature songs like “Doo Rags” with lyrics like:
“We lost the Vietnam War, intoxicated poisons / Needles in arms of veterans instead of bigger fortunes / We devil incarnates, headed for jail / When Shell gas company in South Africa be havin’ us killed”.
You think a man who claims he can get 100,000 people to show up at your door with a word would ever be allowed to use his words in this manner on a consistent basis? Revolutionary rapper? HA! He’s a death dealing pawn just like the rest. I mean, why should they tell him he is when he proseletyzes for drugs, sex but no marriage,violence, no real love and this concept that we should raise ourselves above the knowledge of God(self-centered) that has bodied more black people than slavery and all the american wars combined. He just hasn’t figured it out yet, that sambo.
If he had a little positive goin for him at one time it was still in the context of the religion of the street and the fact when he first came out blasphemin against Jesus:

Ok, so let’s get down. Semantics first.
Good-Evil and Truth-Lie
When you use words like these, you split the reality in half. You paint the universe black and white, which is very misleading and stultifying . It will have you caught up in paradoxes (for example murder – it is considered evil but what about the case when you will lose your life unless you kill. Are you evil then? No, you got caught up in a very complicated bullshit with many layers of causes and consequences which is life)Good and evil do not exist in the absolute sense. Something is good or evil according to your needs and the nature of your organism. What opposes or tries to annihilate any person or species is seen by that person or species as being evil. I think it’s naive to predicate any absolutes here, it only has reference to the conditions of life of a given organism or species or society. It is similar to the truth-and-lie concept, which is built on the same dualistic construct. Eistein was the first prophet of relativity. To consider something evil you have to have a standpoint and something to observe. So the conotation of the word will differ with each person and situation.
I wasn’t trying to insinuate that he is such a star because of pure talent, I’m just saying that by stating that he is the star only because of him selling death and nothing else is confusing. There are a lot of factors which lead to stardom – charisma, lyrics, talent, PR, being at the right place at the right time, fashion etc etc to infinity. I don’t even agree he is a death selling rapper. Most guys in rap that glorify selling crack are really rapping about selling death. That he bores me is just my personal opinion that doesn’t rule out him having talent. I ony stated I’m not interested in his music. For example Metallica is a very good band with amying stage presence, but I don’t listen to them.

I never claimed I’m well versed on the world and how it really works. I think it is a very difficult question and should be approached really carefully.
I’ll use conspiracy terms – if you go up from the blind brainwashed slaves (people) to their masters (bilderberg, freemasons or any other secret society), where do you draw the line? Is there a final master they all work for? They are probably servants of forces and powers you cannot reach. Where do you stop?
Controlling the masses by propaganda always was and always will be main agenda of any goverment, from Egypt to modern day America. You conspiracy people act like you discovered something new under the sun. Control is a basic drug habit stemming from unrestrained power. It is inherent in human nature. So the means of controlling are getting better and better. You had Stalin and Hitler, they did their job well, but there was a problem. Dictator has a face and therefore you have an enemy, someone to stand against. You can bathe in the streams of good versus evil and truth versus lie. The modern day control is at it’s best, because it doesn’t have a face. How do you batlle against something you can’t see or grasp? Who exactly is behind it? Isn’t it everybody that doesn’t use their common sense and only regurgitate what is told and given to them, given by their conformist families, normalized education etc.
I despise this Freemasonry crap with statements about real truth and other crap. It is too simple and probably well devised system of propaganda and control. Nowadays you have a document about Apollo projects being fake and staged and at the same time there is documentary which states the exact opposite. And that is the wat things are. Unless you aren’t an expert in a given field you have no means to discover the version that really happened.
I’m not saying that my opinion is the only one like you do, because to even get a whiff of it is a journey that lasts and takes many lives. I just advise caution, unless you want to become a puppet of anti-propaganda. Some of my friends are ardent conspiracy theoretists and we always have live debates, so I maybe assaulted you too harsly because I’m so pissed off about it, it is trendy and everyone without a hint of proper education is regurgitating some bullshit about freemasons.
I don’t watch TV because I like to choose what I watch. I rather watch porn.

You seem to be obsessed with contradictions and see them everywhere, even where there are none. So in your world there probably isn’t a place for standard situations like wanting to quit smoking weed and enjoying it at the same time. Or wanting to kick somebodys ass and not doing it, because you don’t want add any more violence into the world. Contradictions are possible only in the dualistic mind, which you possess. Do some real reading and research and stop watching youtube videos about satanic symbols in Lady Gaga or whoevers video.

Don’t know how the world works? Don’t try and school people on it. Don’t know how the industry works? Don’t try and tell people how to succeed within it. Don’t know the origin and root causes of something? Then don’t assume you do.
As far as the so called examples you gave they’re examples of emotional restraint in terms of what you do, the motivation of the desire is where the value judgement would be made as to whether something is right or wrong.

Well a couple of things here. Why in the hell would you sign with someone who you just destroyed in a publicized battle? That seems suspicious to me already. Second he should have saw this coming jay z said “That my only competitors are nas and em” So it would be wise for Jay to sign him to not only control what he’s saying but to control if he should realese his material at all. That was a great move by Jay.Lastly how old is Nas 40 or close to it. There comes a time when you take personal responsibility for your actions. You signed that contract in return you are embound of what happens to you regarding that music in relates to that contract. Come on folks lets not blame all of this on the companies themselves. Nas been in the game for 15 years and “appears” to be a smart dude on record, so he should know the business side of things just based off of experience of himself and others alone. This is a lesson of why people should study the business aspects of the industry to keep yourself from getting into situations like these. Niggas don’t think ahead they’re concerned about now and it hurts them in the long run due to lack of knowledge.
