New Mexico Death Penalty Repealed

Governor Bill Richardson gave the green light Wednesday to repeal New Mexico’s death penalty.
“If you’re going to put somebody to death, the … criminal justice system has to be perfect, and it isn’t,” Richardson said.
The decision comes just after the Democratic Governor’s trip to the state’s penitentiary, where several death row prisoners are housed prior to facing their death sentence.
“My conclusion was those cells are something that may be worse than death,” he said. “I believe this is a just punishment.”
The new law makes New Mexico the second state in the country to throw out its death sentence since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976.
Now, New Mexico will replace its death sentence with life without the possibility of parole.
According the Richardson’s office, they received opinions from 10,847 people regarding the controversial bill. Of that number 2,745 spoke out against it.
Now, the King of Hollywood wants to know what you think. Tells us if you’re for or against the death penalty and why.

so you are telling me its better to keep them in prison than death penalty??? lets look at all the benefits prisoners CAN and DO receive in certain states….plastic surgery, medical benefits, dental benefits, free college education…ummmm lets see what I get as a taxpayer??? Higher interest rates, higher deductibles on insurance….do I need to continue? No, I dont want to go to prison, but come on..I could use some botox, but dont get it for free! Whats up?
