OPRAH SHOULD HONOR THY MOTHER AND FATHER…
Oprah’s 73-year-old mother is breathing a sigh of relief after the queen of daytime television bailed her out of a lawsuit.
Apparently, Oprah Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee racked-up a pricey bill at Milwaukee’s high end ladies boutique, Valentina, Inc., back in July 2008.
Details behind the lawsuit remain sketchy, but we can tell you that the boutique sued Lee for $155,547. That’s the amount Lee is reported to have accumulated in purchases and interest, before a court ruling stating, “Valentina Boutique, Inc., shall not at any time extend further store credit to the Defendant, Vernita Lee.” Those same records cited Lee as bad with managing debt.
A settlement was reported to happen Tuesday, after Oprah reportedly covered the balance in question.
Valentina co-owner, Tony Chirchirillo says it’s a good day for Valentina Inc. “We’re happy with what transpired,” says Chirchirllo. “We can get on with our lives, and they can get on with theirs.”
The case is set to go back before a judge for possible dismissal, December 7.
Oprah seems to have never spoken about her mother. One would think that Oprah’s mother would of been living la vita loca, but I guess that’s not the case. No one is accusing Oprah of being a bad person, but her father — Vernon Winfrey, did state the following: “My daughter was out of hand, an unruly child and she told many lies.”
Through her talk show, Oprah seems to always extend forgiveness towards her guests who openly admit to being Junkies, Hookers, Unruly teenagers, and Strippers etc…but she can’t seem to forgive her dear ole dad. It appears that Oprah’s mother had to reach rock bottom before she extended her help to Vernita. Oprah takes care of Gayle King better — Ask Tina Turner?
I guess when Oprah gives away free stuff on her show, it’s just for the ratings…
