RIHANNA PLAYS PITY CARD TO SELL RECORDS

This week, Rihanna’s schedule is stacked with consecutive days of meeting the press — from interviews with Diane Sawyer, to Glamor Magazine, to 20/20 — she’s making it a point to be heard. I wonder why? It just may be that Rihanna is laying the PR-related groundwork for the release of a new album, while speaking out against former boyfriend, Chris Brown.
This sort of maticulous move is not new to the music business. Back in the day, Tina Turner also publicly turned on husband and music mentor, Ike Turner, using it as a play for the public’s sympathy — which ultimately pushed her back into the spotlight. In true Tina Turner form, the ‘O’ factor also played a parallel move. Years after Oprah Winfrey reported her childhood rape, the Queen of television made it publicly known. I want to know who the family member is, and why that person isn’t reported to be locked-up.
It kills me to see artists preying on others, by using pity as a marketing tool, to sell themselves and their products. Let’s take a closer look at how Rihanna has been using the pity card, from the very beginning stages of her music career. “It’s my dad he used to smoke crack in the bathroom when I was a child,” stated Rihanna. “And beat my mommy up.” That’s one of Rihanna’s earlier statements… just after the release of her first album. If Rihanna’s statement about her dear ‘ol dad is true, then why would the man step-up to get involved in his daughter’s incident with Chris Brown? Sounds like the kettle calling the pot black. Plus, Rihanna is reported to speak with her father regularly. So much so, that he openly admitted to wanting to ‘get even’ with Chris Brown, for beating-up Rihanna.
Let’s not forget Rhinna’s newest ‘glam rock-esque’ photo of her covering her eye. Many would agree that the photo depicts her recovering from a black eye.
The truth is this — Rihanna’s present marketing tool to push more of her CDs is “Chris Brown was my first love, and he beat me up.” Here’s my advise — shut the fuck up bitch and tell that to the judge, because you can’t sing a fucking note without pitch vocal corrections. If you don’t believe ask Rihanna’s producer, Chuck Harmony. And, what does Rihanna’s incident with Chris Brown have to do with musical content anyway? Don’t you agree?
