RIHANNA PLAYS PITY CARD TO SELL RECORDS

This week, Rihanna’s schedule is stacked with consecutive days of meeting the press — from interviews with Diane Sawyer, to Glamor Magazine, to 20/20 — she’s making it a point to be heard. I wonder why? It just may be that Rihanna is laying the PR-related groundwork for the release of a new album, while speaking out against former boyfriend, Chris Brown.
This sort of maticulous move is not new to the music business. Back in the day, Tina Turner also publicly turned on husband and music mentor, Ike Turner, using it as a play for the public’s sympathy — which ultimately pushed her back into the spotlight. In true Tina Turner form, the ‘O’ factor also played a parallel move. Years after Oprah Winfrey reported her childhood rape, the Queen of television made it publicly known. I want to know who the family member is, and why that person isn’t reported to be locked-up. (more…)
