Came across an article today written by my bretheren Gyant over at Gyantunplugged who incidentally has given a lot of love to HSK. Gyant is a veteran in this “New Media” game and recognition from him and people like Russell Simmons (Russell who probably got it the worst on HSK) is whats validated the numbers of visitors who return again and again. HSK has been viewed over 10 million times by 1 million plus visitors, HSK content is syndicated to all social networking platforms available to hundreds of millions of people daily.
Like Gyant, HSK stands out from the typical “Urban Blog” Jacky Jasper and Hollywood Street King is a stand alone brand brought from the streets and laced with decades of REAL industry experience by LEADERS to the industry. (more…)
Industry insiders are pointing to Russell Simmons as a liar after the Phat Farm creator reportedly lied to Donald Trump, as part of a plot to get over on the real estate king.
HSK has learned that Simmons told Trump he was putting together a biography on “The Apprentice” star’s life, in order to land an on camera interview with him. The Trump biography by Simmons didn’t exist, but Simmons was planning to use Trump’s interview as part of his yoga infomercial. And, that’s exactly what he did – looping parts of Trump’s interview throughout his yoga project. Apparently, Trump later caught on to Simmons’ game, and became livid with the former Def Jam CEO.
Now, we’re told Trump refuses to ever work with Russell Simmons again. (more…)

I had to comment on this. I can feel you on all this. We have been posting on gg.com for a couple of months and the shit is crazy. We had stories we posted put on the front page going to Necole Bitchie’s site. Not saying she stole it. But, shit we can tell time we know we posted the story before her! We have stopped posting on there all together. The other bloggers will figure it out soon. Then they will see who needs who, because Necole Bitchie and Blogxilla can’t carry that site alone! What’s the deal over there?
HOLLYWOOD STREET KING EXCLUSIVE COMMEMORATING THE ANNIVERSARY OF
THE MILLION MAN MARCH
RUSSELL SIMMONS and JACKY JASPER KICK-IT, AFTER CALLING TRUCE
In one of his best interviews to date, Jacky Jasper speaks during a candid conversation with rap music mogul, Russell ‘Uncle Russ’ Simmons.
The man behind ‘Phat Farm’ opens up with Jacky, regarding the Def Jam founder’s dark childhood, and how he made a 360 from his past to his present succe$$ful and lengthy career. During the discussion, Simmons lyrically bows-down and credits The Nation of Islam for standing by him, as a youth living in the hood. Like most black men, he’s encountered racism and segregation first-hand. I advise all my readers to listen and learn from the words of the this wise man we – all know as Russell Simmons.
Take a listen to today’s episode, “The Million Man March Anniversary”…
Hip Hop mogul, Russell ‘Uncle Russ’ Simmons is more than just a staple in the music business. Know why? Because he’s giving back to the community.
In a candid conversation with Jacky Jasper, Russ opened-up his generous side to Hollywood’s Street King. “I spend more money than I make on my charities,” said Simmons. “And, the gifts I give to other charities.”
The man behind ‘Phat Farm’ clothing has generated about $2.5 million each year, over the past decade. Simmons speaks with Jacky about his trio of charities – Art for Life, Diamond Empowerment Fund, and Hip Hop Summit.
HSK has learned that Pharrell spent $100K for a hoodie…WTF? I find this completely ridiculous, because it seems to me that Pharrell is WAY out of touch with reality. Know why? Because, there are people in poor communities. And, starving children in black communities can’t even afford books for school, much less a computer.
This begs me to ask such selfish entertainers (like Pharrell) – How does it feel to spend so recklessly, when your own people are at the bottom of the food chain? ?? We as black people can’t blame anyone but ourselves for our standards of living in government housing, unless our rich entertainers put back into the poor communities.
I wrote a article on a Peacekeeper last week. An honorable man, by the name of Dennis Muhammad – a Captain for the Nation of Islam. Captain Dennis is trying to help our kids to achieve a better life, by teaching them how to live safer in in their own communities. But, Captain Muhammad desperately needs help from wealthy entertainers (and other wealthy individuals), to help fund his mission. To date, just a small number of them have stepped-up to the plate, including: Russell Simmons and Charles Oakley). (more…)
When we think of Minister Louis Farrakhan, we often think about the man who helped guide Muhammad Ali or the man who came up together in the Nation of Islam with Malcolm X. Do we ever think he’s the man who helped hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of black people to love themselves? Well, we should.
When I grew up in Hollis, Queens there was a rehab, a mosque and a “Steak n’ Take” on my corner, all of which where run by the Nation of Islam. There was also a heroin epidemic on that corner that was killing off our teenagers and young adults. Our parents would tell us that when we grow up we should make a choice to either join the army or “be a Muslim or something.” The Nation of Islam secured our housing projects, promoted dignity and transformed men with criminal pasts. Those men would then, in turn, raise refined, educated black children. Hard to dispute this. It took guys off the street and created a powerful, non-violent movement. The Nation of Islam has never been associated with any form of violence and always been about uplifting our communities and making a better future for black people. If you ask anyone from my generation, from any ghetto in this country, I promise you they have roughly the same experiences regarding the Nation’s presence in their communities.
Certainly some of their preachers were fiery, especially in their pointing out the evils of white supremacy. They said some things in a way that was hard for most whites and some blacks to digest. For example, “THE WHITE MAN IS THE DEVIL.” We have to remember the climate of the country during this time. It was an all out war and the Nation was not about to back-down. The Nation of Islam, which was started by Elijah Muhammad and a white man named, Master Fard Muhammad, always pointed out that one day we would all live in harmony. Although this still isn’t quite true, their message under the leadership of Minister Louis Farrakhan has evolved to fit the time.
