THE COPS MAY BE FOLLOWING YOU ON TWITTER!!!

Twitter.com has become more than a social networking site, it’s become a place for gang-related activity. That’s according to NYPD detectives.

Investigators say a beef sparked by the Original Young Gangsters crew on Twitter, is what led to a Manhattan boy being shot in the leg, just weeks ago.

Now, New York City detectives have their eyes on Twitter, following who they believe are prospective gang members. “It is another tool … just like old phone records,” a police source said. “We can go through them [messages] to track these guys.”

Internet experts say Twitter receives approximately 14 million visitors each month. That’s exactly the reason why real crooks stay clear of the internet. But, nowadays everything has become cyber, even pimp’in. I know many pimps who use myspace to bump their next hoe…Ask Vinnie?

Now, street gangs are using the net to sling dope by announcing where people can find the best Kush. How stupid is that? These knuckleheads also use the net to showcase their come-ups…material things, cash, etc. Some even pose with pistols for their profile pictures. WTF???

What they’re really doing is creating evidence for the police and the D.A., ultimately making it easier for detectives to file a case against them…Don’t you agree?

Exactly, Twitter and other sites where people flaunt their crimes are basically a criminal profile with loads of personal evidence and habits, most of this information the police would never know if it werent for these web sites.
Since the beginning I’ve been very aware of the potential for these social sites to become dragnets, a crime database with personal information on every citizen that uses it. And we willingly divulge the info! We do the work for them!
I’m very weary of this “total information awareness” culture being built around us, for I think privacy is healthy and essential for a free people.
As time goes by, those rumors about the cia/fbi being behind Google and some of these social websites makes more and more sense. Its perfect! They dont need to do a thing, we enter the info for them!
We all need to remember the importance of privacy!
    Cheers Jacky!

The cops have been following people on twitter since its inception. Not only the locals, but the CIA, the Feds, the school districts, human services, CPS, and everybody else lol. Not that it’s funny, it’s not funny at all, it’s a damn shame that it has to be like this is what it is. The fact that a lot of people are just plain gullible to put themselves in situations, and then feel like they can’t be touched just because it’s the internet. “Oh, you take this stuff too seriously… it’s only the internet… blah, blah, blah, blah, blublahblah….” I’ve heard it time and time again. It use to be just a little bit a bullshit, but now it’s out of control. That’s why the agencies are hard at work, and taking full advantage of the networking systems (all of them).

Sometimes I feel like all these networks were built for just that reason – to make it easy to bust a nut or two or three. It makes you wonder why the hell Twitter, for example is not even bothering to get paid for their services, but yet and still the CEO can afford to buy million dollar homes. Where the hell do he get his paper from?

No. Seriously, try doing a Google search for the Sheriff’s department on twitter, or the FBI and the CIA for that matter, and you will see. They been watching!
