The late Tupac Shakur’s song titled “Changes” is one of 12 tracks chosen by the seat of the Catholic Church’s official MySpace page, for its playlist.
Tupac’s “Changes” was released to the public back in 1998. That’s two years after the legendary rapper was fatally gunned down.
During the now dead rapper’s Vatican’s choice, he says, “Is life worth living, should I blast myself?” “Give the crack to the kids, who the hell cares, one less hungry mouth on the welfare,” and “My stomach hurts, so I’m looking for a purse to snatch.”
The Vatican recently released a statement regarding its top musical picks. “The genres are very different from each other, but all these artists share the aim to reach the heart of good minded people.”
Now, Tupac is listed on the Vatican’s playlist alongside artists including Mozart and Dame Shirley Bassey.
I’d say the Vatican has good taste for music. I wonder if they’re going to add Michael Jackson to their playlist too? It’s plain to see the Vatican does not judge a musician from how they have lived their lives, or how an artist chooses to express themselves. I wish others would do the same, and stop shunning rap music. I’d love to see the Pope jamming to Tupac. He’d be dressed in nothing but the best, laced in gold and his feet would be housed in Prada. I wonder what Jesus would have to say…
How ironic that the Vatican is playing the music of the Illuminati killer, Tupac. Its almost like a taunt…
“Thats just the way it is, somethings will never change.”
Bow down kiddies.
God Bless Pac, a true revolutionary.

I dunno, you could be getting bit carried away with this Illuminati conspiracy theory Josh. Perhaps it’s valid, I don’t know enough about it, but at the end of the day, most priests enter the clergy because of a desire to see peace among mankind. There are some really decent individuals among them, and I’d like to think that they chose this song because of its message of peace, and not as some sort of taunt.
Of course there are peadophiles in their ranks too, but that’s only a minority.
If the Illuminati exists, they’re pulling the strings from somewhere that wields more power than the Vatican.
Just trying to look at things objectively.

This is Jacky am not mad at you JC but isn’t the Vatican all about religion…
Am not saying you are wrong but what they find so religious about this Tupac track?

Well, without a doubt, it’s strange that they have Tupac on their site, especially with lyrics like the ones you highlighted. Still is a good track, even though E-40 already did it a few years earlier. And the original is pretty much a classic too. Pity the charts don’t have some similar tracks these days. The vatican probably had to dig around in the vaults a bit to get their playlist.
My guess is that they’re trying to stay current with the times, as well as trying to reach the heart of people. It’s a big business and maybe they need a fresh congregation to fill the collection plates. It’s not really my place to comment on their religion, but there seems to be a few good guys in their ranks promoting a peaceful way of life. Harmless anyway. But maybe that’s all a front.
I hope you don’t mind me commenting here. The topics and comments are interesting, plus you’re a rap legend, so I throw in my 2c. But I don’t want to stain up your site either.
